What reason was given for your ban?

I’ve had a lot of posts deleted for spam, sexual solicitation, and nudity.

Why do you think your post(s) was censored?

The Instagram algorithm must have detected a naked body in my photos and automatically took them down without recognizing that all my photos are properly censored per Instagram guidelines.

Were you able to appeal and what was the response?

Yes, I’ve always appealed when Instagram took down my posts and when it deleted my account. Once in a while, a post will be reinstated, but usually, nothing happens.

What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?

It has made it hard for me to share my art, grow a following, and make a living selling content. When Instagram deleted my account, I had to put hours into redoing my content and making a new content calendar from scratch.

What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?

The internet as a whole needs a better way to divide adult content from content that is suitable for kids. It shouldn’t be on artists and content creators to corral their work into one small corner of the world; it should be on platforms to effectively filter content and the ages of their users.
