Adult and nudity, inappropriate, violent and graphic.

Why do you think your post(s) was censored?

I have a stoma bag and this has been labelled as violent and graphic many times when other people without a stoma bag post very similar content with no problems.

Were you able to appeal and what was the response?

Yes – sometimes it’s been restored, although most never are.

What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?

Not being able to raise awareness and break the stigma of having a disability and stoma has really damaged the online community. We have been told that our bodies are not worthy of being seen and that hurts our self-confidence.

What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?

Bodies are to be celebrated, not censored.
