What reason was given for your ban?
Because I go against the rules of Instagram on ‘Sexual content.’
Why do you think your post(s) was censored?
“I think they censored me because I talk about sex, freedom, feminism, etc.
They take down my pictures even though I cover my nipples – but then I see other pages where they sexualise women’s bodies and they keep those up.
Were you able to appeal and what was the response?
Always, they never bring them back – they block my account for days at a time too.
What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?
Its really bad because I have a huge following and I was using the platform to make consciousness and talk about things I think are important, I started talking about feminism and violence and how to detect them in our daily lives. Women would write to me to thank me for this! Still, they definitely controlled the number of people that can see my content. Before I would get 60,000 views on my stories, now i get from 1,000 to 3,000
What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?
There’s no freedom on these platforms, everything is being controlled.
