Violating community guidelines.

Why do you think your post(s) was censored?

My photographs showed women and non-binary persons whose bodies do not fit into the western beauty standard.

Were you able to appeal and what was the response?

Yes and no response.

What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?

I lost all of my followers, all of my messages, and all contacts I made via Instagram. I was traumatized for some time, it felt like a loss, for me as an artist, it was extremely sad.

I asked Instagram for the backup data, but all I got was empty files. It was horrible! But after the first shock, I went on and tried to enlighten myself about this topic, I worked on several projects about censorship and its effects. It’s a big part of my art now.

What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?

Instagram does not build up the whole spectrum, and it is not a safe place for female and non-binary artists!
