What reason was given for your ban?

Nudity and violation of community standards.

Why do you think your post(s) was censored?

Because the human body, especially an AFAB body is insanely sexualised in this world.

My piece was actually about reflecting the male gaze which is what makes the censorship so ironic and hilarious.

What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?

It made me mad at first, then anxious and then frustrated. I also feel artistically restricted and don’t think I can make certain pieces because I will not be able to publish them online.

What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?

Sexism, misogyny and queerphobia are rampant when it comes to the rules and “guidelines” of social media. The fact that even after living through a pandemic and most of us living our lives online, to still have these censorship problems due to cis-het-neurotypical norms and power structures is a huge PROBLEM!
