Going community standards.

Why do you think your post(s) was censored?

It was a boudoir image. Any slightly empowered, confident or sexy images of a normal woman are shut down – but if you’re a celeb or influencer you can have your bikini bottoms up your bum and it’s totally fine.

Were you able to appeal and what was the response?

Yes but no response.

What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?

It’s made me wary of posting more content – I’ve had to put ridiculous stars over nipples, and lines across bums so I don’t get thrown in Instagram jail again. I feel defeated by the whole thing.

What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?

It’s bullshit. It’s double standards for regular women vs influencers or celebs.

There’s all this emphasis put on inappropriate content but actually what I’m posting is empowering content, body confidence images, surely we should be showing more regular everyday women, more than just one type of body.
