Why do you think your post(s) was censored?
A female nipple.
Honestly, the issue of censorship of female nipples seems stupid to me, and I am not a photographer who is explicit when I show it, you can see in my profile that they are professional works of fashion or editorial portraits, which do not have a pornographic purpose, but Instagram does not differentiate that intention. I can understand that Instagram does not want to be a porn site, but there is a very clear difference between how it is displayed.
Were you able to appeal and what was the response?
Yes but without response…
What effect has your experience of censorship had on you?
As a photographer I use Instagram as a platform on which to show my work. Censorship forces me to limit what I teach and what I don’t.
What’s one thing you want people to know about this topic?
Working under conditions of censorship limits both the artist and the viewer. This type of censorship, educationally speaking, creates more limited and conservative minds, making it seem that what is natural is bad.
